One of the 70s biggest fashion trends was flared or bell bottomed trousers, and luckily the fancy
dress industry has really gone to town with flared costumes. Although popular
from the mid 1960s through to the mid 1970s flares really took off thanks to
John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever, and now flares often get associated with
the 70s disco scene.
Unlike many fashion trends that were gender specific, both
sexes wore flares and this is shown in some really fun fancy dress costumes for
both men and women.
There are a couple of flared costumes that are ideal for
couples because there’s both a male and female version. These are the Frilly or
Frilled Fantastic Costumes by Smiffys below:

Men's Frilled Fantastic Costume - Yellow & Green Jumpsuit with Silver Trim and Flares |
As you can see they're great costumes and double up on the flares! Both costumes are also great for disco parties and have an Abba look so are also ideal for Abba themed parties too!
Another classic 70's female jumpsuit is the Disco Diva Costume by Smiffys. This is a silver halterneck jumpsuit with some great frilled flares:

70s Jumpsuit Costume - All in One Jumpsuit with Attached Shirt |
These men's costumes are great fun and will force you to get those legs kicking and body shaking and grooving! They also cry out for a few accessories and there's nothing more 70s than a medallion or stick-on hairy chest!
For the ladies' who don't fancy wearing a jumpsuit there are some excellent flared costumes that have hippy & psychedelic influences. They are shown below:

This list of flared costumes is by no means exhaustive but is a selection we have here at shop.noodlenogs.co.uk. The costumes are at competitive prices and we have a good selection of accessories but it's always worth looking around as many fancy dress websites are doing great deals on a regular basis.
Would love to hear from people with ideas for 70s fancy dress costumes, accessories and parties. In the meantime have a cool and funky 70s fancy dress party!
